La Rappresentante di Lista, aka Veronica Lucchesi and Dario Mangiaracina, is an Italian duo with an eclectic style, ranging from synth-pop to dance, from singer-songwriter fare to R&B, often putting electronics at the centre of their experimentation.
The pair behind the La Rappresentante di Lista name started out as theatre actors, but soon after meeting they turned into one of the most promising projects in the Italian indie underground. The group was born in June 2011 when Lucchesi, originally from Viareggio, and Mangiaracina, originally from Palermo, met in Valledolmo during rehearsals for the theatre production Educazione Fisica, directed by Sabino Civilleri and Manuela Lo Sicco. The name of the group came about when Lucchesi, in order to vote away from her home town in the 2011 referendum on nuclear energy, registered as a list representative ("rappresentante di lista") for one of the various political parties.
In 2014 their debut studio album came out, "(Per la) via di casa", on the Garrincha Dischi label. The album, which features folk sounds, also includes two tracks in German ("Klammern an den Zähnen" and "Winter Underwear").
A year later came their second album, "Bu Bu Sad", from which three singles were lifted: "Invisibilmente", "Apriti cielo!" and "Bora Bora".
Three years passed before their next work, "Go Go Diva", described by the duo as "an invitation to lose yourself, to fight, to strip down and to sing with all the voice you have in your body". Its release was preceded by the single "Questo corpo", later also included in the soundtrack of Paolo Sorrentino's TV series "The New Pope".
Their level of fame grew exponentially thanks to their appearance at the 2021 Sanremo Festival with just the right song. "Amare", once taken outside the confines of the Teatro Ariston (where they delivered a much-praised performance), gained even more strength, as shown by the video produced as a contribution to the Rome May Day Concert. It was the decisive hit the duo needed to make the leap they had already been waiting for back at the time of their previous album "Go Go Diva".
In 2022 they took part in the Sanremo Festival again with the song "Ciao ciao", which finished seventh at the end of the event; on cover night the duo performed a version of "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes together with Cosmo, Margherita Vicario and Ginevra. Both songs were included in the reissue of "My Mamma" titled "Ciao Ciao Edition", released on 11 February.
In 2024 the duo returned to Sanremo, where they delivered an excellent cover of "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics as a guest of Annalisa, alongside the Artemìa choir.
