Cosmo

Cosmo, pseudonym of Marco Jacopo Bianchi (Ivrea, February 19, 1982), is an Italian singer-songwriter, record producer and DJ.

As well as having been the frontman of Drink to Me, he has released five solo albums.

In 2002 he formed Drink to Me together with Carlo Casalegno, Pierre Chindemi (who would later leave the group) and Francesco Serasso. With this group he released three EPs between 2004 and 2007 and four albums (“Don't Panic, Go Organic!”, “Brazil“, “S” and “Bright White Light“) between 2008 and 2014.

On June 4, 2013 Cosmo released his solo record titled “Disordine“, made up of ten tracks sung in Italian. The record was produced, played and arranged by Cosmo himself together with Andrea Suriani. The previous March 26 had seen the release of the video for the first single “Ho visto un Dio”, directed by Gabriele Ottino; while July 25, 2013 saw the release of “Il digiuno”.

Between June and October 2013 he performed, among other dates, at MI AMI Festival, at Traffic – Torino Free Festival (as opening act for LFO), at A Night Like This Festival and in Brussels. He contributed to Colapesce's cover version of "Mare mare" by Luca Carboni.

In September 2013 the album "Disordine" was shortlisted among the five finalists for the Targa Tenco in the Best New Artist category, which was then awarded to Appino for "Il testamento".

In October of the same year Cosmo won the Premio aKME', an award for musical innovation created by Vox Day. About a month later, in November, he won the PIMI 2013 (an award organized by the Meeting delle etichette indipendenti) as best debut album.

In April 2016 he released his second solo album, "L'ultima festa", preceded by the video for "Le voci". In the summer of the same year the title-track single was released.

On 26 May 2017 he released the single "Sei la mia città". For the official video, posted on the singer's YouTube channel, he renewed his collaboration with director Jacopo Farina.

On 24 November 2017 his third album, "Cosmotronic", was officially announced, and was released on 12 January 2018 via 42Records/Believe. The album was preceded by the single "Turbo", out on 24 November 2017.

On 23 March 2018 he released the single "Quando ho incontrato te", the third single taken from the album.

On 19 April 2019 Cosmo released "Cosmotronic Remixed" via 42Records. The album features eleven tracks from "Cosmotronic" remixed by DJs such as Underspreche, Enea Pascal, Splendore and others.

In 2019 he collaborated with Marracash on the track "Greta Thunberg – Lo stomaco", included on the rapper's album "Persona".

On 21 May 2021 he released his fourth solo album, "La terza estate dell'amore", from which the singles "La musica illegale", "Vele al vento" and "Mango" were taken.

The following year he took part in the fourth evening of the 2022 Sanremo Festival as a guest of La Rappresentante di lista, alongside Margherita Vicario and Ginevra, performing an electronic version of the Ronettes' "Be My Baby". This version of the track was also recorded in studio form and released as a digital single.

The performance caught the media's attention because of a message the artist shouted out, "Stop Greenwashing", drawing attention to the greenwashing campaign carried out by Eni, the event's sponsor.

In 2023 he collaborated with Paola & Chiara on an alternative version of their 2003 track "Kamasutra", included on the Iezzi sisters' album "Per sempre", released in May of that same year.

2024 is the year of his fifth album, titled "On the wings of the white horse", an album preceded by the single "Troppo forte", on which the Ivrea-born artist attempts an introspective journey through the feelings that have accompanied him over these years.

This is a singer-songwriter turn that continues, two years later, with "La Fonte", through which Marco Jacopo Bianchi carries on his evolving path toward a form of songwriting increasingly distant from the liberating four-on-the-floor beat expressed on "Cosmotronic", when the mastermind behind the Cosmo project successfully broke down the idea that high-level pop songwriting could be cross-pollinated with rave culture and brought into the clubs. From his hometown of Ivrea he continues to observe the world with a certain detachment, and today Marco chooses to rediscover his origins, his purity, "the source", through a kind of songwriting capable of embodying a return to the more "classic" song format. The process was carried out (as with the previous album) alongside his close friend Alessio Natalizia, aka Not Waving, who once again provided crucial input on stylistic choices, helping to reduce - almost to the point of eliminating - the clubbing-derived elements.

The “old” Cosmo can still be glimpsed in “Ogni giorno / Ogni notte” (which sounds a bit like Raf), as well as in the coda of “Sboccia un fiore”, but in 2026 his choices head in other directions: a collective purification rite that unfolds amid the soft psychedelia of “Incanto”, the soul inflections of “Totem e tabù”, the bucolic minimalism of “Tornare alla fonte”, the family intimacy of “Per mio fratello”, co-written with Achille Lauro (who asked not to be credited). Listen closely to “Ciao”, a thoroughly convincing and courageous synthesis of Kraftwerk and Lucio Battisti, proof that sonic research can still speak to a mainstream audience. Battisti is indeed the most obvious touchstone for this new brand of auteur pop signed Cosmo, which alternates beats and acoustic guitars, memorable melodic lines and vocoder. Marco sets aside any predictable solution to put himself back on the line, to search for the essence, taking risks, and emerges – at last – a Songwriter with a capital S, in an album that clearly charts the path ahead, while we wait for the definitive work.
