From Jesus And Mary Chain to Sting, from Linkin Park to Faithless: the most interesting new releases

The Jesus And Mary Chain – “Pop Seeds”

A return for  Jesus And Mary Chain. After releasing the album, "Glasgow Eyes" a few months ago, the Scottish duo have released a new single, titled "Pop Seeds", accompanying the release of the band's autobiography “Never Understood”, the book written by founding members William and Jim Reid with the help of critic Ben Thompson. The book is currently only available in its original language and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon, Rough Trade and other outlets. Moving away from the darker, more electronic-laden tones that permeate “Glasgow Eyes”, “Pop Seeds” brings out a brighter, more joyful spirit, with jangling guitars and nostalgic lyrics blending with synths. Listen to the track below:

Sting – “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)”

Sting has released his new single “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)”. A track in which the former Police frontman and his three-piece rock band offer a variation on what renowned computer scientist Dr. Godfried Toussaint dubbed “the beat that conquered the world”: the syncopated rhythm known as the “Bo Diddley beat” has, in fact, fuelled some of the most infectious songs in the entire rock canon, from its West African origins, through its incarnation in Latin music, right up to Bo Diddley's own 1955 single of the same name from which it takes its name. Fantastic Negrito –  “Son Of A Broken Man” (Ft. Sting)

A year after "Grandfather Courage", Fantastic Negrito is back with his sixth studio album, titled "Son Of A Broken Man", the acoustic version of the acclaimed "White Jesus Black Problems", released in 2022. The record, due out on October 18th, is preceded by the new single "Undefeated Eyes", which marks a collaboration with another great artist, Sting. Below is the video, shot last July in Belgium:

Linkin Park – “The Emptiness Machine”

News from Linkin Park. Last night the US band announced a world tour, kicking off on September 11th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. These will be the first shows since the death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017. No Italian dates have been announced so far. But while the tour news was widely anticipated, the real surprise is the arrival of a new singer: Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara. The new Linkin Park lineup also features a new drummer, Colin Brittain, replacing Rob Bourdon. This new incarnation of the band can already be heard at work on the new single, "The Emptiness Machine", their first new material in 7 years, which premiered during a live-streamed performance. Watch the performance below:

Faithless – "I'm Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)"

Faithless have released their new single "I'm Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)", a tribute to former singer and rapper Maxi Jazz, who passed away in 2022. The track was released on August 30th via ADA, coinciding with the 26th anniversary of the band's worldwide hit "God Is A DJ", included on their second studio album "Sunday 8PM" from 1998. Earlier this summer, Faithless released the single "Find A Way", featuring Suli Breaks. Listen to the second single below:
