On the Aderlating front, Maurice De Jong continues to scour the most hidden corners of his soul, forever in search of the root of evil. On this fourth work, after the experience of "Woven Nacht", we delve even deeper into dark-ambient territory, although, as we know, his solutions are never orthodox. Indeed, as "Opening Of The Tomb" shows, the sinister atmospheres are constantly crossed by a whole array of diabolical grunts, sparks and metallic screeches, deformed voices and harrowing echoes.
These descents into the underworld obey a deeply expressionist force of transfiguration, in whose wake every sonic element becomes a detail that is both marginal and essential to understanding what, in the end, can also be read as genuine post-mortem set pieces (among others, "Dragged To The Smouldering Pits Of Infinity" stands out). In some cases, however, a certain fatigue is noticeable ("Bondaged In Shame, Disgraced In Fear", the title track), which is understandable given the enormous amount of output De Jong keeps churning out...
