Pubblicato originariamente nel 1995 dall'americana Curious Music, "The Diary Of The Unforgotten" contiene dieci autoritratti registrati tra il 1973 e il 1978 a Forst in Germania e Blumau, in Austria. Roedelius inventa l'ambient music creando spazi e modellandoli con semplici ma efficaci frasi di sintetizzatore. "Ausgewahlt" sta alle stradine di campagna come "Autobahn" dei Kraftwerk alle grandi autostrade. "Manono" anticipa le derive desertiche della musica sintetica californiana dei primi anni 80 (A Produce, Steve Roach etc). "Ampfer" è un capolavoro di struggente romanticismo degno delle migliori tracce di "Sowiesoso" e delle collaborazioni con Eno su "Before And After Science". L'omonima "The Diary Of The Unforgotten" fa capire quanto Emeralds e Oneohtrix Point Never debbano al musicista tedesco in fatto di ispirazione artistica. La lunghissima "Hommage À Forst " è un esperimento in cui Roedelius mostra tutta la sua vena psichedelica.
