Two cd-rs in an extremely limited edition (19 copies). But don't rush, because good old Kevin Drumm doesn't have much to say this time! “The Obstacles Of Romantic Exaggeration” is, in fact, a rather unsuccessful experiment, a blend of radical noise, musique concrète and assorted weirdness that gropes its way through the dark. Between absent-minded surrealism (“Stochastic Sophistication”, “Humidity Can Suck It”), melodies that drift through the chaos like ghosts (“Violent Daydreams”), Cage-style radio waves (“Shortwave Intermission”), graveyard sound design (“A Hairdresser Who Suddenly Went Mad And Decapitated a Duke”), brutal powernoise (“Fauxnakis”) and half-baked sonic terrorism (“Gutsynth 2000”), the musician from South Holland (Illinois) vents without restraint, delivering an uneven record.
Worth considering if you want to make your neighbours suddenly believe you've turned into a shady character.
