Yes are back with a new album. The historic British prog outfit, led in its current lineup by Steve Howe alongside Geoff Downes, Jon Davison, Billy Sherwood and Jay Schellen, have announced their twenty-fourth studio effort, "Aurora", due out on June 12, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the band have released the title track "Aurora" as the first single, accompanied by an animated video by Matt Hutchings: watch it below.
In the press release, Howe describes the project as born out of a relaxed, collaborative creative atmosphere: "Making this record was joyful, a chance to play, explore and give everything to the music. It's always been about collaboration: someone might write a song, but until everyone contributes it doesn't truly become a Yes song. We're not trying to echo the past; we're carrying the band's spirit forward, turning it into something new".
The first ideas for “Aurora” took shape informally, with no fixed concept, starting from musical fragments developed over time. Among them was already a track titled precisely “Aurora”, a title that shaped the project's imagery from the very start. “The name immediately struck Steve Howe and sparked Roger Dean's visual inspiration, helping to define the album's tone”, Davison explained.
Work began after the conclusion of the "Classic Tales Of Yes" tour in 2024. The result is a multifaceted album in which each track retains its own identity, balancing elements rooted in the band's tradition with forays into less predictable territory.
