Vinicio Capossela celebrates 30 years of "Il ballo di San Vito" and 20 years of "Ovunque proteggi" with two reissues and four special concerts

2026 marks a fundamental double anniversary in the career of Vinicio Capossela. The singer-songwriter is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of "Il ballo di San Vito", released on October 10, 1996, and the twentieth anniversary of "Ovunque Proteggi", released on January 20, 2006, two albums that represent key moments in his artistic journey. To mark the occasion, two celebratory limited-edition vinyl reissues are arriving, along with four special concerts dedicated to the two records.

The reissues will be available in just 1,000 numbered copies each and will faithfully reproduce the original artwork. "Il ballo di San Vito" will return in a red vinyl edition, while "Ovunque Proteggi" will be released on cream-white vinyl, a colour chosen to echo the tones of the original cover.
Pre-orders open on Wednesday, July 15, while the official release is set for Friday, July 24.

Live, too, Capossela will pay tribute to the two albums with four exclusive dates.
The twentieth anniversary of "Ovunque Proteggi", a record that marked an artistic turning point drawing on the landscapes of Barbagia, the rites of Sicily, journeys through Russia and a deep reflection on the sacred and myth, will be celebrated at two striking archaeological sites: on July 13 at the Anfiteatro degli Scavi in Pompeii, and on July 16 at the Tempio di Hera in the Selinunte Archaeological Park. The album's cultural and geographical significance was also recently explored in Giovanni Ansaldo's book "La strada di Vinicio Capossela. Un viaggio sulle orme di Ovunque Proteggi", published by Nottetempo in 2026.
Then there's the thirtieth anniversary of "Il ballo di San Vito", the record that in 1996 marked a decisive shift in Capossela's artistry, moving away from the atmospheres closer to early Tom Waits to immerse itself in the sounds of Salento's pizzica, rural blues and Marc Ribot's guitars. The anniversary will be celebrated with two summer concerts: on August 2 in Monforte d'Alba, as part of MonfortinJazz, and on August 12 at the Locus Festival in Locorotondo.
