Taylor Kirk, the Canadian singer-songwriter known for the project Timber Timbre, has died. He was 44. The news was confirmed by people close to the artist, who released a brief statement: “Taylor William Kirk, 44, of Orono, passed away suddenly on April 14. We are devastated by the profound loss of Taylor and will miss him immensely. Beloved son of Donna and David, brother of Caley and Emma, uncle of Arden, partner of Linda, nephew of Steve, Arlene, Randy and Les. His memory will live on forever through his music, which we are fortunate to be able to listen to for the rest of our lives.” The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Kirk first made a name for himself in the second half of the 2000s with two self-released works, “Cedar Shakes” (2006) and “Medicinals” (2007), before signing to the Canadian label Arts & Crafts. With Timber Timbre's self-titled third album he gained significant recognition, earning a nomination for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize, the award that each year highlights the most notable releases in the Canadian scene.

In the years that followed, the project cemented its identity with albums such as “Creep On Creepin' On” (2011), “Hot Dreams” (2014) and “Sincerely, Future Pollution”, works that defined his style at the crossroads of folk, blues and dark atmospheres.

His last album, "Lovage", came out in 2023.
