The only Italian concert by the Strokes is scheduled for this evening, Saturday 17 October, at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno, on the outskirts of Bologna. The New York band returns to our country with the world tour supporting “Reality Awaits“, their seventh studio album, released in July 2026. Opening the evening will be Fat White Family and Alex Cameron.
The tour takes in North America, the UK, Europe and Japan, with dates at venues such as Red Rocks, London's O2 Arena, Toronto's RBC Amphitheatre, Paris's Accor Arena and Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome. The calendar also includes headline slots at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Summer Sonic. For the Bologna show, doors open at 6pm, while the Strokes are due to take the stage at 9pm.

The new album
“Reality Awaits” doesn't seem interested in following any particular path. It's a messy, chaotic record, one that starts one way and ends another, throwing in a couple more directions along the way. Autotune is everywhere on “Reality Awaits”; sometimes it works, sometimes less so. It's what turns, for instance, “Falling Out Of Love” into one of the band's most languid and successful romantic ballads, with Casablancas crooning a serenade amid lunar flourishes of guitar in the voice of a lovestruck little robot running out of battery. But above all, it's what gives closing tracks “The Fruits Of Conquest” and “Tyrants Of The Mellow Moon” an irresistible retrofuturist mood closely recalling Daft Punk's immortal “Instant Crush” (with Casablancas on vocals).
The Strokes' seventh album is an experiment, a devil-may-care act of creative freedom. A labyrinth leading nowhere, hard to decipher, full of surprises, the odd mishap and the occasional dazzling glimpse.
