Tears For Fears: a 2027 tour and new songs on the way

26-08-2026

Tears For Fears will be back on tour in 2027. The news was confirmed by Roland Orzabal, who also spoke about the possibility of releasing new music following “The Tipping Point“, the 2022 album that reached number two on the UK chart and number eight on the US chart.
The band didn't play any shows in 2026, while the previous year's live activity had been limited to their Las Vegas residency. Speaking to Vulture on the occasion of the release of his autobiography “Welcome To Your Life: Love, Death And Tears For Fears”, Orzabal revealed that some shows are already being planned for next summer: “Right now we're thinking about doing some shows between June, July and August of next year”.

The English musician also explained that he recorded nine new songs during the first half of 2026, partly spent in Los Angeles: “These days I'm a bit more prolific. I'll get back to work on these tracks in November, when I'm back in Los Angeles”. However, there's still no firm timeline for a new album: “I don't feel any pressure, because no one's telling me there absolutely has to be a hit single or anything like that”.
Still, the follow-up to “The Tipping Point” shouldn't require as long a wait as the one that preceded the 2022 record. “An album won't take another eighteen years, because I don't think I've got another eighteen years in me. But actually, I don't know,” joked the 65-year-old Orzabal, adding that the band would probably need a fresh spark to get the creative process fully going again.

Finally, Orzabal acknowledged the decisive role streaming has played in Tears For Fears' rediscovery by younger generations: “Streaming has changed the musical landscape, because kids are exploring artists from the past too. In a way, it puts musicians from the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties on the same level as those of today”. The clearest example is “Everybody Wants To Rule The World“, which according to Orzabal has become “a mega-hit”, racking up around a million streams a day on Spotify.
