Snapped Ankles, the art-rock project live in Italy this week

16-04-2025

Back on the scene since January with “Hard Times Furious Dancing”, Snapped Ankles will present their new work live this week on the stages of Arci Bellezza in Milan and Covo Club in Bologna. Formed in 2011, the daring London-based art-rock project has reinvented the concept of alternative music by blending elements of post-punk, krautrock, electronics and tribal rhythms, all marked by a strong visual and performative component. Their music is an explosion of synth, driving rhythms and primordial grooves, often paired with an aesthetic that evokes the wild, mysterious nature of forests, combined with an irreverent critique of contemporary society and technological progress. During their shows, band members are often dressed in tribal costumes, masks and other gear that accentuates their connection to their “forest” imagery, crafting an immersive, collective experience that blends music, dance and visual art. Over the years, Snapped Ankles have built a genuine cult following thanks to works like “Come Play The Trees” (2017) and “Stunning Luxury” (2020): their sound has evolved through a mix of Teutonic rhythms and industrial pulses, while retaining a strong, unsettling tribal identity, reflected in the themes of their albums, which explore the contrast between nature and technology, and the relationship with progress and gentrification. With “Forest Of Your Problems” (2021), they continued to explore increasingly complex and unsettling sonic territories, taking their “forest ritual” to new levels of expression, both in the studio and on stage.
