Prince: the album of unreleased tracks "Timeless" is out. Listen to the single "Stone"

05-08-2026

A new posthumous Prince album is on the way. Out August 28, "Timeless" is a collection of ten previously unreleased recordings spanning nearly forty years of his career, from 1977 to 2016. Released by The Prince Estate in collaboration with Legacy Recordings and Sony Music, the album draws on material from the artist's celebrated "Purple Rain" archive and stands as the first project designed to trace the full arc of his creative evolution, from his earliest Minneapolis recordings to one of his final live performances.

"Timeless" offers a fresh perspective on Prince's artistic journey, bringing together tracks recorded in very different eras yet united by the same tireless musical exploration. The album aims to highlight the continuity of his creative vision and his ability to reinvent himself over nearly four decades, giving fans ten previously hidden chapters of his vast catalogue.
Ahead of the release, the single "Stone" is already available to stream, recorded in the spring of 1995 and written by Sandra St. Victor, Tom Hammer and Jules Van Even. Previously, on April 2, marking the tenth anniversary of the musician's death, "With This Tear" was released, recorded at Paisley Park in November 1991. The track, on which Prince handles production, arrangement and every instrument himself, was met with enthusiasm by critics, who praised its intimate character and the sheer essentiality of the performance.

The album will be available digitally, on CD and black vinyl, alongside a limited purple marble vinyl edition exclusive to the Sony Music Store. Dedicated merchandise and collectible items created for Prince Celebration 2026 will also be offered through Paisley Park and Prince.com.
