Fifty years after its release, “La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria“, the landmark album born from the meeting of Ornella Vanoni, Toquinho and Vinícius de Moraes, returns in a special commemorative edition. The reissue, announced around September 22nd, the day on which Vanoni would have turned 92, will be released on November 13th by Nar International on double LP, double CD and digital.
The box set “La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria – 50th Anniversary” is already available for pre-order, while the digital version can be pre-saved here.
The new edition doesn't simply revisit one of the most important albums in Ornella Vanoni's career. Alongside the original album, remastered from the original tapes, it will also feature previously unreleased recordings and unheard exchanges between the protagonists of the sessions — testimonies that capture the complicity, affection and creative atmosphere of the recording sessions in Rome.
Released in 1976, "La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria" marked a particularly happy meeting between Italian song and Brazilian music. Alongside Vanoni were two central figures of bossa nova and Música Popular Brasileira, the poet Vinícius de Moraes and the guitarist and composer Toquinho, while the project was overseen by producer Sergio Bardotti, who adapted the lyrics of several great Brazilian songwriters into Italian.
The album was recorded live by the three performers, with choirs and orchestral parts added later through Gianfranco Lombardi's arrangements. The result played a decisive role in bringing bossa nova and Brazilian song to a much wider Italian audience, going gold just weeks after its release.
The 50th-anniversary reissue will now allow listeners to delve even deeper into the album's genesis. The second disc will gather material recovered from the original sessions, including recordings that had remained in the archives until now and conversations between Vanoni, Toquinho and de Moraes. Fragments in which a spontaneous, ironic Ornella emerges, alongside the sensual singer, perfectly at ease in the Brazilian repertoire, heard in the final versions.
The limited double-LP and double-CD editions will also include a book with liner notes and commentary on the unreleased material written by music critic and author Giulia Cavaliere, the song lyrics, and previously unseen photographs from the era. Rounding out the box set will be a 50th-anniversary sticker and a collectible poster, different for each format.
The graphic design of the new edition was entrusted to Ciao Discoteca Italiana. The famous original cover will be preserved with a slight change in color, while the elements created specifically for the 50th anniversary will be printed on a special o-card placed over the cover.

"La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria – 50th Anniversary" thus aims to be not just the reissue of a classic, but also a document of the unrepeatable circumstances in which it was born: the meeting of three personalities and three different sensibilities, able to find a natural understanding in the studio. And, through the previously unreleased recordings, a new way of rediscovering Ornella Vanoni in her most immediate dimension, amid melancholy, irony, fragility and that interpretive freedom that has run through her entire career.
