Blur have announced their ninth album

Without any kind of warning, Blur made all their fans happy today — fans who were already quite excited about the approaching tour announced just a few months ago. This time, though, the joy is even bigger: the band has announced on its social channels that their new album of original material, titled "The Ballad Of Darren", will be released on July 21st.

The album, released as usual by Parlophone, is the ninth studio album from the band led by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, and stands as the ideal follow-up to "The Magic Whip", now eight years old. It's quite likely that the first tracks from the record will be aired during the English band's upcoming shows.

For now, we'll have to make do with the first single taken from the album, titled "The Narcissist".

The cover photo of "The Ballad Of Darren" was taken by British photographer Martin Parr. On July 22nd, the day after the album's release, Damon Albarn and co. will perform in Lucca.
