It's been a tough year for David Pajo, founding member and guitarist of Slint. First a suicide attempt (February 2015), then a terrible motorcycle accident (March 2016) that required no fewer than six operations and three blood transfusions, and in which he nearly lost a foot. After a lengthy recovery, Pajo (who besides Slint has also been a member of Tortoise, has released records as Aerial M, and has collaborated with Stereolab, Royal Trux, Will Oldham, Zwan, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol) has announced the release of his new album under the name Papa M.
It's the first album by the 48-year-old, who grew up in Louisville, since 2009, when "Scream With Me" came out under the name Pajo, and his third studio album as Papa M, not counting a live record and the 2004 compilation "Hole Of Burning Alms". The new album is titled "Highway Songs" and will be released by Drag City on November 11th. Check out the tracklist below and listen to the first single "Walking on Coronado".
