Daft Punk: Thomas Bangalter announces new album. Listen to the single "Mirage: Part II"

24-04-2026

Daft Punk, the subject of our new Rock In Onda podcast, remain at a standstill following the split announced on 22 February 2021. Meanwhile, Thomas Bangalter, one half of the French duo alongside Guy Manuel De Homem-Christo, has announced a new solo project, "Mirage – Ballet For 16 Dancers", developed together with choreographer Damien Jalet and visual artist Kōhei Nawa.

The work will be released on June 5th on digital, vinyl, CD, and in a limited run on Revox tape. It's a score conceived to accompany a ballet performed by sixteen dancers, with choreography by Jalet and artistic contributions from Nawa.

A first excerpt, “Mirage: Part II”, is available today and can be heard below.

After the end of Daft Punk  in 2021, Bangalter has gradually steered his work toward composition tied more closely to music for the screen and to the performing arts. He wrote the score for the film "DAAAAAALÍ!" and took part in the project "Chiroptera", created with artist JR and Jalet himself, whose second part was unveiled to the public in November 2022. In 2023 he also released "Mythologies", an orchestral work written for ballet, marking a further departure from the electronic language that had defined his earlier career.
