Icelandic band Múm return to Italy for two dates in June 2026: June 23 – BOtanique, Bologna; June 24 – Circolo Magnolia, Milan.
Tickets are available through major ticketing outlets and on ponderosa.it.
The band will present “History Of Silence”, released in September 2025, a work that develops a compositional idea centred on the use of silence as a structural element, in which even the pauses become an integral part of the musical language, helping to shape a stretched-out, almost architectural sonic flow.
The writing on the record sits in a zone of balance between acoustic and electronic instruments: strings, piano and percussion converse with analog synthesizers and digital interventions, building light, layered textures. The result is a rarefied sound that moves across ambient, pop and electronic coordinates.
On stage, the current lineup brings together founders Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, joined by the voice of Sigurlaug Gísladóttir (Mr. Silla) and Finnish percussionist Samuli Kosminen. On several occasions they are also joined by cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir and guitarist Róberta Andersen, further broadening the tonal range of the shows.
Active since 1997, Múm have carved out an independent path within contemporary European music. Their catalog includes six studio albums, along with EPs, singles and numerous collaborations. They have worked with, among others, Kylie Minogue, the Kronos Quartet, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hauschka, as well as the MDR Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig.
In 2019, the Icelandic band celebrated the twentieth anniversary of "Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Is OK" with a reissue and a tour across Europe and China. The following US tour, planned for 2020, was postponed due to the pandemic.
