Other outlets' rankings: i migliori dischi del 2024 per The Wire

Dopo le classifiche dei migliori album del 204 pubblicate da Mojo, Uncut, Consequence, Pitchfork e Stereogum, è la volta dell’autorevole The Wire, storica rivista britannica rinomata per la sua attenzione ai suoni “di frontiera” e autoproclamatasi “world’s greatest music magazine”. Sul numero 491/492 – già disponibile previo sottoscrizione in digitale – The Wire ha pubblicato la lista delle migliori uscite dell’anno, a giudizio della redazione. Il magazine è noto per le sue scelte fuori dal coro (nel 2022 aveva posto in vetta Lucrecia Dalt, nel 2021 L’Rain, mentre l’anno scorso aveva optato per i più canonici Yo La Tengo), e anche in questa edizione sorprende mettendo in risalto nomi di artisti sperimentali altrove poco considerati, con al vertice una realtà di marca prettamente free jazz, [Ahmed], con un disco, “Giant Beauty”, dalla durata monstre di ben 4 ore.
