Midge Ure will release a new album, titled “A Man Of Two Worlds”, out on 8 May 2026 via Chrysalis. It's his first work with new material in twelve years, and it features a structure split into two distinct sections.
“I'm pleased to announce that my brand new album, 'A Man Of Two Worlds', will be released on May 8 – Ure writes on his social media – It will be my first record of new material in twelve years. It's partly inspired by my exploration of instrumental music during lockdown, and it's split into two distinct halves”.
The first half of the record, titled “World One: Music”, gathers eight instrumental tracks. The second, “World Two: Songs”, instead features eight songs with vocals. The project also grew out of the listening habits Ure developed during lockdown, a period in which he devoted more attention to instrumental music. His radio experience with the show “The Space” on Scala Radio also played a part, where the artist presented and explored various works of this kind.
That immersion gave rise to the first sketches of the instrumental tracks, conceived as compositions marked by an introspective mood and a musical language tied to feelings of suspension and uncertainty.
The second part of the album, meanwhile, offers eight sung tracks described as extremely stripped-back and contemplative. The lyrics tackle themes tied to the fragility of the human condition and also reflect some of the author's anxieties about the tensions running through the contemporary world. Among the first tracks released is “Just Words”.
Ure explained the idea behind the project: “In almost every album I've made over the last forty years, there's always been at least one instrumental track. This time I wanted to develop that side further and show the two dimensions of my work”.
“A Man Of Two Worlds” will be available as a deluxe 2CD edition with a twenty-page booklet, as well as on double vinyl. The artist's official store is also offering a limited “bone”-colored vinyl edition, pressed in a run of 300 copies and featuring alternative artwork.
The release is scheduled for 8 May 2026 via Chrysalis Records.
