Michael Kiwanuka reveals: "I had a stroke, I can't go on tour". But new album "Fudge" is on the way

Michael Kiwanuka has announced the arrival of his new album “Fudge”, but alongside the news of the record he has also revealed that he suffered a stroke and is currently in the midst of a long rehabilitation process.
The 39-year-old British singer-songwriter shared on social media that he has faced serious health problems in recent months, which also forced him to cancel some shows in the United States, where he was due to appear as an opening act for Mumford & Sons. “Fudge” had been recorded before the stroke.

Kiwanuka explained that the brain injury he suffered is serious and that recovery will still take time. “It's a long road to recover from a stroke, which is why I recently had to miss some shows in the US,” he wrote. At the moment, then, there is no certainty about when live activity will resume: “I don't know yet when I'll be back on tour or what that will look like.”
The musician described the past few months as “difficult” and admitted he has “a long, hard road” ahead of him, while stressing that he continues to fight to recover. In his message he also wanted to thank the NHS staff who cared for him during treatment. “This has definitely been one of the toughest challenges I've ever faced, and I'll be glad when I can put it behind me,” he added. “Until then, I wish you all the best and hope to see you further down the road.”

“Fudge” will mark Kiwanuka's return to recording, after he debuted in 2012 with “Home Again”, followed four years later by “Love & Hate“. In 2019 came his third album, “Kiwanuka“, which the following year earned him the Mercury Prize. Further details about the new record will be announced in the coming hours.
