With over 50 million records sold worldwide, Judas Priest rank among the most important bands in the history of hard rock. Formed in Birmingham in 1969, they're among the names who, alongside fellow Brummies Black Sabbath, helped define the language of heavy metal. Halford's arrival in 1973 gave the band its unmistakable sound, thanks to his soaring voice and a stage presence that became a benchmark for the genre.
After the 1974 debut "Rocka Rolla", still close to hard rock and progressive, "Sad Wings Of Destiny" honed in on a harsher, more personal formula. International consecration arrived in the Eighties: "British Steel", with "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight", and "Screaming For Vengeance", driven by "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", set a template built on tight riffs, blistering solos and the interplay between the guitars of Glenn Tipton and K. K. Downing.

After Halford's departure in 1992 and the years with Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals, the singer's return in 2003 reunited the band with its historic frontman, ushering in a new era of albums and tours. The band's influence is also acknowledged by acts such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Slayer; their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 further cemented their weight in rock history.
