After three editions hosted abroad, the MoonJune Festival is coming to Italy. The fourth edition will take place in Teramo from 22 to 25 July 2026, with a wide-ranging lineup bringing together major artists from across the international scene.
Among the confirmed acts are Gong with Steve Hillage, Soft Machine with Gary Husband, and Osanna joined by David Jackson and Derek Shulman, founder of Gentle Giant, making his first return to Italy since the Seventies. A lineup that spans rock, jazz, fusion and progressive, in keeping with MoonJune Music's curatorial approach, long focused on projects that push beyond genre boundaries.
Conceived by Leonardo Pavkovic, founder of the MoonJune Music label, the festival arrives in Italy following stops in Jaice (2022), Toledo (2023) and Guadamur (2024). Local organisation is handled by the Associazione Culturale Music By Eder, run by Emiliano Di Serafino, long active in the Teramo area. Alongside the concerts, the programme includes talks, round tables and initiatives promoting the local area, with the involvement of local institutions.
The opening, on Wednesday 22 July in Piazza Sant'Anna, will feature a free-entry welcome party with a jam session from the artists on the bill. The following day things get underway in earnest with a round table marking 25 years of MoonJune Music at the Castello della Monica, followed by concerts split between Largo Melatino and Piazza Sant'Anna itself, where in the evening performers will include Markus Reuter with the TRUCE project, a MoonJune all-star lineup, and Osanna with David Jackson.
Friday 24 July will be partly devoted to Soft Machine, with a talk marking the band's 60th anniversary and a series of related performances. In the evening, there's a concert by Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy centred on "Rainbow Dome Musick", a solo performance by Gary Husband, and, to close, a live set from Soft Machine in their most recent lineup.
The closing day on Saturday 25 July will see the MoonJune Awards presented to John Etheridge, Lino Vairetti, Markus Reuter and Asaf Sirkis. Also on the programme is an appearance by Derek Shulman, who will present his book “Giant Steps: My Improbable Journey from Stage Lights to Executive Heights”. In the evening, among others, Diego Amador will perform, along with the closing Gong concert featuring Steve Hillage.
For four days, Teramo will become a hub for an international network of musicians and audiences, offering not only concerts but also discussion panels and related activities. Tickets are available for pre-sale on Ciao Ticket. For info: https://moonjunefest.com/
