Diamanda Galás returns to Italy for three concerts in September

16-04-2026

Diamanda Galás returns to Italy for three dates concentrated at the end of September 2026. A long-awaited comeback, arriving during a particularly active recent phase of her artistic output.

The three Italian dates will touch down in Trento, Parma and Senigallia:

  • September 23, 2026 – Trento, Auditorium Santa Chiara
  • September 26, 2026 – Parma, Auditorium Paganini (as part of the Il Rumore del Lutto Festival)
  • September 30, 2026 – Senigallia, Teatro La Fenice

The concerts follow on the heels of two releases that have reignited interest in her catalog. On one hand, the remastered reissue of “You Must Be Certain Of The Devil” (1988), included by The Quietus among the best recent reissues; on the other, “De-formation: Second Piano Variations”, a live document of a piano reworking drawn from “Das Fieberspital (The Fever Hospital)”, performed in 2025 in an intimate, almost ritualistic setting.

Tickets are available on Ponderosa.it.

Singer, composer and pianist, Diamanda Galás remains an isolated figure on the contemporary scene: her vocal research, built on an extreme use of melisma and a constant expressive tension, continues to elude any stable classification. Active since the late 1970s, Galás has built a coherent, radical body of work, weaving together music, performance and installation into a language that retains a strong political dimension. The founding of the independent label Intravenal Sound Operations in 2017 marked the start of a phase of reorganizing and relaunching her archive, through carefully curated reissues and new work.
