deary: the dream-pop trio live in Italy this autumn

02-09-2026

More than a year after their debut in our country at the magical setting of Ypsigrock, deary will return to Italy this autumn for two live shows in Milan and Ravenna. The dream-pop trio made up of Rebecca “Dottie” Cockram (guitar and vocals), Ben Easton (guitar) and Harry Catchpole (drums) will perform their debut “Birding” live, released in early April via Bella Union.

The album's eleven tracks carry forward the dark, dreamy legacy of touchstones like Cranes, Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, paired with lyrics that are at times rawer than those on the EPs “deary” (2023) and “Aurelia” (2024), released via Sonic Cathedral. The lyrics' central theme concerns humanity's impact on the surrounding world, both toward nature and within interpersonal relationships.

deary came together during lockdown, when Ben stepped away from the southeast London music scene to focus on more emotional, introspective songwriting. In 2021 a mutual friend introduced him to Dottie, and the two immediately clicked, bonded by a shared love for the great names of the Nineties shoegaze and dream-pop scene. Dottie recalls that the first name they discussed was Elizabeth Fraser, the enigmatic voice of Cocteau Twins. Later, with the arrival of drummer Harry Catchpole in 2025, their sound expanded, retaining its ethereal atmospheres while gaining new rhythmic nuances and fuzz guitars.
