Dagger Moth – “Ghost” [VIDEO]

23-12-2013

First video taken from the remarkable self-titled debut by Sara Ardizzoni under the name Dagger Moth: “Ghost”. It's a video made in a thoroughly do-it-yourself style, the same approach that shaped the making of the album itself, but it also speaks of “memories, images and presences that blend together, for better or worse, in remorse or in light, and, in part, it's also tied to the memory of my mother, whom I lost ten years ago now.” (Ardizzoni)

According to director Edo Tagliavini, “the cinematic reference is Tsukamoto's celebrated Tetsuo […] in double exposures with and without Sara, to recreate an ethereal, ghostly, transparent effect […] Helping set the mood was the beautiful pine forest of Marina Romea, “captured” at the end of May, when it was still not too busy and caught up in a striking metamorphosis of colors. […] The idea of burnt film, evoking memory, and the resulting flashes in certain parts of the video represent, on a conceptual level, the distinction between present and past, in a game of chases (through the pine forest, precisely) where Dagger Moth becomes absence/presence.”
