Culture Club: watch the new video for "Victims". "Boy George & Culture Club" film coming soon

09-06-2026

More than forty years after its release, the video for "Victims" by Culture Club has been officially uploaded to YouTube. The return of the celebrated clip coincides with the release, from June 9, of "Boy George & Culture Club", a documentary directed by Alison Ellwood chronicling the history of the British band. Released in 1983 as the second single from "Colour By Numbers", "Victims" arrived on the heels of the global success of "Karma Chameleon". It was a bold choice, since the track - a poignant ballad that, over five minutes of vibrant intensity, reaches new heights of lyricism - moved on very different terrain from the hit that had made the band's name. Released in just five countries, including the UK, the single still managed to reach number three on the British chart. Watch the video for "Victims" below.

Premiered at the Tribeca Festival, the documentary traces the rise, the successes and the internal tensions that have marked Culture Club's career. Speaking about the project, Ellwood stressed how willing the band members were to open up without holding back: "I was really struck by the honesty with which Boy George, Jon, Mikey and Roy told their story. Their moving testimony takes us on a very personal and engaging journey, in which each member confronts the trials and tribulations of fame and success".
The director added that the film also sheds light on lesser-known aspects of the band: "I think audiences will be surprised by the depth and sophistication of their catalogue, well beyond the big hits everyone associates with the band".
