Charli XCX announces new album "Music, Fashion, Film", out July 24. Scorsese, Cale and Jacobs on the cover

Charli XCX has revealed the details of her new album, “Music, Fashion, Film”, due out July 24 via Atlantic Records. The album cover, shot in black and white by longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri, brings together three symbolic figures that echo the record's title: musician John Cale of The Velvet Underground, designer Marc Jacobs, and director Martin Scorsese.
On Instagram, the artist summed up the project with a simple formula: “11 songs, 30 minutes and 5 seconds”. The album was preceded by the singles “Rock Music” and “SS26”. See the cover below.

It was actually “Rock Music” that sparked discussion after an interview with British Vogue, in which Charli stated: “I think the dance floor is dead, so now we're making rock music”. The singer later clarified the meaning of her words with an ironic post on social media: “A video of me making a song called 'Rock Music' that isn't actually rock. It's funny, because I never said I was making a rock album”. The album's title comes from a line in “SS26”, in which Charli sings: “Stiamo camminando su una passerella che porta dritta all'inferno/ niente ci salverà, né la musica, né la moda, né il cinema”. John Cale's presence on the cover is no coincidence: the two already collaborated last year on the soundtrack inspired by “Wuthering Heights“.

“Music, Fashion, Film” arrives after the long-running success of “BRAT“, an album that has kept generating buzz well beyond its release. Over the past year, Charli has also ramped up her film career as an actress and contributed to the soundtrack of the movie “Mother Mary”.
Over the summer, the artist will likely showcase the new material live at a string of major festivals, including Lollapalooza in Chicago, Outside Lands in San Francisco, and the UK's Reading and Leeds festivals, set for August.
