Car Seat Headrest announce new album: listen to the single “Gethsemane”

Dopo cinque anni dall’uscita di “Making A Door Less Open”, i Car Seat Headrest tornano con un nuovo audace capitolo discografico. Il loro tredicesimo LP, “The Scholars”, uscirà il 2 maggio via Matador Records, e si preannuncia come una rinascita sia musicale che spirituale per la band.

Set on the fictional campus of Parnassus University, “The Scholars” follows the story of students and faculty members, with a narrative that weaves together themes of life, death and resurrection. The record is produced by frontman Will Toledo, and most of the tracks were recorded in analog, underscoring the organic, intimate nature of the work.

Ad anticipare l’album, il primo singolo “Gethsemane” arriva insieme a un video diretto da Andrew Wonder. Il brano introduce il personaggio di Rosa, una studentessa di medicina che, dopo aver riportato in vita un paziente deceduto, riscopre i poteri soppressi fin dall’infanzia: la capacità di guarire gli altri assorbendo il loro dolore. Le sue notti si popolano di visioni tormentate, mentre la realtà e il soprannaturale si mescolano, trasportandola in un mondo oscuro e misterioso sotto la facoltà di medicina, dove antichi esseri trameggianti tessono piani segreti.
