Beck announces new album “Ride Lonesome”: listen to the single “In The Night”

15-07-2026

Beck is back with a new album. The American singer-songwriter has announced “Ride Lonesome”, his first studio work in nearly seven years since the release of “Hyperspace”, which came out at the end of 2019.
The album marks a return to the intimate, acoustic atmospheres that defined “Sea Change” and “Morning Phase“, a direction already hinted at by the title track released back in April, later revisited in a version featuring Sierra Ferrell. Alongside the album announcement, Beck has shared a second single, “In The Night”, a folk-rock track with warm, melancholy shades, enriched by an elegant string arrangement. The single comes with a video directed by Mikai Karl, starring French actor Denis Lavant.

“Ride Lonesome” was produced by Beck himself and mixed by Nigel Godrich, his longtime collaborator who previously worked on “Mutations” and “Sea Change”. For the recordings, Beck brought back much of the band that had backed him on those albums as well as on “Morning Phase”: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner.
“The album comes out this fall”, Beck explained. “The musicians from my original band, the ones I recorded “Sea Change”, “Morning Phase” and “Mutations” with, got together with me again at my favorite studio, Room B at United Studios in Hollywood. Nigel Godrich mixed every track. It had been a decade since we'd last recorded together, on “Morning Phase”. This time I felt like the way we play together, our chemistry, had grown and deepened: a sound that had matured over decades of shared work”. “Even though we returned to a musical and physical place we knew well, it felt like we discovered new sounds and new emotional shades along the way”, the singer-songwriter added.
