Alanis Morissette sues former tour manager: "He blackmailed me with a false drug trafficking accusation"

02-09-2026

Alanis Morissette has sued her former tour manager Keren Urinov, accusing her of trying to extort a long-term employment contract by threatening to implicate her in a fake drug-trafficking scandal. The lawsuit was filed on September 1st with the federal court in Los Angeles.
Urinov, Head of Operations at Live Nation Israel from 2018 to 2025, had accompanied the Canadian singer on tour in 2025. According to the court documents, during a check at a British airport she was allegedly detained after marijuana and xylazine — a veterinary anesthetic also known as the "zombie drug" — were found in her bag. The woman reportedly claimed the substances were hers, producing an Israeli prescription for the therapeutic use of marijuana, before being released. A similar episode is said to have occurred in Spain as well, during a run of shows Morissette played in July 2025.
Once the tour ended, Urinov and her lawyer allegedly sent the singer letters with an "increasingly extortionate" tone. The demand was reportedly for Morissette to tell British authorities that the drugs belonged to her; failing that, the tour manager allegedly threatened legal action.

To avoid consequences, according to the lawsuit, Morissette would have had to hire Urinov on a full-time, 15-year contract, including substantial pay, annual raises, bonuses and the assistance of an immigration lawyer. The singer called such demands "brazen" and rejected them.
The former tour manager and her lawyer's subsequent communication allegedly hinted at an intention to accuse Morissette of drug trafficking. Hence the lawsuit for extortion, fraud and false or misleading statements: the singer is seeking damages of more than $75,000.
Urinov has not yet commented on the matter.
