Cristiano Godano, third solo album on the way: here are the first details

08-10-2026

On November 13th, a new album of original material by Cristiano Godano will be released. Titled “Un filo d’erba nel muro”, it will come out under Ala Bianca Group / Warner Music. Joining Godano on this project is Rob Ellis, the British multi-instrumentalist and veteran producer who has previously worked alongside PJ Harvey and Marianne Faithfull.
The partnership between the two is renewed more than twenty years after “Senza peso” (2003), one of the most intense and acclaimed works in the sprawling discography of Marlene Kuntz. Entrusting the production to Ellis promises to push the album toward a sound with international scope, moving away from the folk shades of the past to explore new layers of production.
The record will be available for pre-order starting October 20th, in digital format and on CD with special 45rpm-style packaging.
Godano himself introduced the new project on his social media pages as follows: “It's an album of new songs, and it's also a new stretch of the path I've been following for a few years now with my songs, outside the boundaries of Marlene Kuntz. This time, though, on the journey I found again a companion who belongs to an important part of my history: Rob Ellis. More than twenty years have passed since “Senza peso”, the Marlene album we produced together in 2003. Meeting again today, with different lives behind us, different experiences, different urgencies, was exciting. And it has led these new songs toward sonic territories different from those I had explored in my previous solo works: new layers, new colors, a different breath. I'll start telling you more about it soon. For now, I just like to tell you that it exists, that it has a title and, finally, a release date.”
Let's not forget that Cristiano Godano also debuted as a writer in 2008, with “I vivi” (Rizzoli); in 2019 he published the biographical account “Nuotando nell’aria. Dietro 35 canzoni dei Marlene Kuntz” (La Nave di Teseo), followed by “Il suono della rabbia. Pensieri sulla musica e il mondo” (Il Saggiatore). He currently writes a current affairs column for Rolling Stone Italy.
Always attentive to current issues, Cristiano Godano has woven social and environmental commitment into his artistic work. His focus on climate change is reflected recently in the “Karma Clima” project with Marlene Kuntz and in the reading/performance “Canto d’acqua” alongside Telmo Pievani (philosopher of biology and evolutionary theorist).
His debut solo album “I had lost my heart” came out in 2020, followed by “Stay by my side” (2025), two intimate, auteur-driven chapters that were met with praise, confirming his artistic sensibility outside of Marlene Kuntz as well.
