From Franz Ferdinand to King Hannah, from PJ Harvey to Murder Capital: the most interesting new releases

Franz Ferdinand – “Night Or Day”

Franz Ferdinand embrace the darkness of the night in the music video for their latest single, “Night Or Day”. Directed by Rianne White, the video was shot on a rainy day at AYR Studios, the place where the band recorded their new album, “The Human Fear”, out January 10th.

“Life might never be easy, but damn it, we'll make sure to live it to the fullest, night or day – commented frontman Alex Kapranos – We worked with the huge talent of Rianne White to capture the noir drama of the environment where we recorded this track and the rest of the album. She has a sensibility and an energy that literally made that space explode, offering a glimpse into the world where we created our music. A storm shakes the room and… boom, the dark heart of Scotland beats loud”. Watch the video for “Night Or Day” below:

Murder Capital – "Words Lost Meaning"

Three years on from their second album "Gigi's Recovery", Murder Capital announce their return with the new full-length "Blindness", out February 21st via Human Seasons Records. The new single "Words Lost Meaning" precedes the album's release, which will also include the track "Can't Pretend To Know", already shared recently. Listen to it below:

PJ Harvey – "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Joy Division Cover)

PJ Harvey, together with Anglo-Canadian composer Tim Phillips ("Shining Vale", "Becoming Elizabeth"), returns to score the TV series "Bad Sisters", whose second season is available on Apple TV+ from November 13th. And once again, among the tracks is a surprising cover: while for the first season the pair reworked Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire", for this new season they've chosen an absolute classic: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division. Their version takes a more choral, orchestral approach, with an organ lending an extra touch of solemnity.

King Hannah – "Blue Christmas"

After the success of their recent Italian dates (here's the review of the show at Bologna's BOtanique), King Hannah are set to return to Italy in December for three shows in support of their second album, "Big Swimmer", released in May via City Slang: Wednesday 4th at Spazio 211 in Turin, Thursday 5th at Monk Club in Rome (alongside The KVB), and Friday 6th at Teatro Sperimentale in Pesaro.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool-based band have released their own highly personal cover of the Christmas song "Blue Christmas":
