Matteo Meda

Born in the year Aphex Twin released "...I Care Because You Do", he started listening to a lot of music from a very young age, "schooled" by his father's passions: progressive, krautrock, ambient and new age, but also a bit of world music and plenty of classical. From another acquired love, Dead Can Dance, he began developing a passion for the world of darkness and its opposite-yet-concordant counterpart, clear light: dark-wave and gothic, but also, and above all, dream-pop. The fruits of new wave, industrial, punk and glam he discovered on his own. His latest, most recent and currently main frontier is a passion for the most varied forms of electronic music and avant-garde explorations.During his teenage years he tried his hand at making music creatively in his spare time, dabbling as a producer with a few synths and a laptop that later (fortunately) burned out, and handling production and mastering for a few amateur projects. He collaborated with some small theatres in Milan and the surrounding province on sound backdrops and multimedia set design (video), activities he'd rather not dwell on. In November 2013 he joined the crew of the Multimedia Independent Lab Factory project, which aimed to bring electronic music into spaces such as social centres and self-managed venues, only to later realize the impossibility and futility of that mission.He has been writing for OndaRock since March 2012 as a contributor and, from May of that same year, as a staff writer, before taking on the role of editorial coordinator in October 2014, a role he held for a year. From June he took on the role of interim coordinator of the site's "Other Sounds" section, which was permanently entrusted to him starting in September. From October 2012 to December 2014 he collaborated with the monthly music magazine Rockerilla, and from November 2012 to May 2013 with the webzine La Bottega di Hamlin. Since March 2013 he has been in charge of the "labels and promos" section of OndaRock's press office, a role he held until the end of 2015. Since February 2014 he has been a contributor to the monthly events magazine ZERO and communications manager for the booking and event production agency Basemental. In September 2015, together with Michele Palozzo and Gabriele Berio, he co-founded and became co-artistic director of the Milan-based cultural series Plunge, aimed at staging multidisciplinary events in the city able to offer new, thought-provoking perspectives on how sound and music are experienced. Since October 2015 he has occasionally contributed to the webzine Radio Caos. Between late 2015 and early 2016 he helped realize Thomas Köner's audiovisual installation "Lux 2" at the Museolaboratorio in Città Sant'Angelo (PE).
