After a background of mostly English-language music projects, formed and dissolved during his high school years, Piedmontese singer-songwriter Valerio Visconti chooses Italian as the vehicle for his debut album.
A child of the pandemic and the complexity of Generation Z, and preceded by the singles “Ammorbidente” and “Le idi di marzo”, “DPCM” is the chillingly clinical title of the work that marks his entry into the recording world over the course of 2022.
In his songs, the urgency of post-punk blends unexpectedly with the singer-songwriter tradition. The lyrics seek to rediscover the metropolis within the provinces, and the normality of unease. Visconti moves between two poles that, as opposites, attract and converge in his music: poetic intimism and biting generational critique.
