Just Mustard are an Irish band formed in 2016 in the small town of Dundalk.
The quintet, made up of Katie Ball (lead vocals), David Noonan and Kalyoncuoglu (guitars), Rob Clarke (bass) and Shane Maguire (drums), crafts a distinctive sonic blend forged from noise, trip-hop, electronics and industrial, all folded into a shoegaze framework that these contaminations render strikingly original.
Their debut album “Wednesday” (2018) won immediate acclaim from critics and fans alike, thanks to this prickly, abrasive amalgam smoothed over by Ball's sweet vocals.
The album earned a nomination for the Choice Music Prize as Irish album of the year.
After numerous live dates across the UK and Europe, Just Mustard were chosen as the support act by Fontaines DC for the tour supporting “Skinty Fia“, boosting their profile and media exposure.
Robert Smith himself openly declared he was a fervent follower of theirs, a love born at the concert the Cure played at Malahide Castle in Dublin in June 2019, when Just Mustard had the honor of opening the show.
In the spring of 2022, the Irish band released, on Partisan Records, the hugely anticipated sophomore album titled "Heart Under", a work that confirms the high expectations set by their debut, expanding its structures and blending its razor-sharp stylistic mix with real mastery.
In 2025 the Dundalk quintet returns with the new album "We Were Just Here", offering up a brand new, unprecedented sonic world. A sonic world capable of giving us the emotional friction of our restless era. The need, but also the fear, of losing ourselves again, of losing control. The languid muffling of the senses, as they absorb overloads of violence.
