Il Senato

Il Senato's story began in 2017, an anglo-Italian "supergroup" from the indie circuit that came together thanks to a shared creative vision between Andy Lewis (formerly bassist with Paul Weller and Spearmint, and in his spare time also a much sought-after producer and DJ), Fay Hallam (an authority in the British mod scene: not only four solo albums, but also vocals and keyboards for Makin Time and Prime Movers), Luca Re (long-time singer of Sick Rose), Alex Loggia (the historic guitarist of Statuto and Il Santo) and Tony Face Bacciocchi (many will remember him behind the drums for Not Moving, Lilith and Link Quartet). Following the permanent addition of Alberto Fratucelli and Roberto Bovolenta to the line-up, replacing Baciocchi and Loggia, the project turned into a sort of side project of Sick Rose. With this lineup the band completed their debut "Zibaldone", released in 2020, and their second work, "Kings Of The World", which marked the arrival of Ennio Piovesani on bass, an album that confirms the collective's beat-mod direction, still underpinned by a hefty dose of groove. The alternation between male and female vocals, as well as the occasional use of Italian alongside English, gives the project notable dynamism. The rest is down to its main sources of inspiration, which lie not only in the Sixties (Rolling Stones, Who, the more bucolic Kinks) but also in the Acid Jazz scene and in certain solo Weller material.
