Twenty-two billion streams and 10 million albums sold worldwide. That's the tally that, at just 27 years old, Troye Sivan can boast — born Troye Sivan Mellet (Johannesburg, June 5, 1995), singer, actor and YouTuber who grew up in Perth, Australia.
Since then, Sivan has been living a dream. Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa have all declared themselves fans, Martin Garrix recruited him to sing on "There For You", the film "Love, Simon" is marked by his original song "Strawberries & Cigarettes", while in "Boy Erased" he was brought on directly to act. On top of that come a string of prominent roles in Hollywood films, collaborations with high fashion houses, runway appearances, and spots on countless TV shows.
Sivan has recently taken part in campaigns for Cartier, YSL Beauty, Calvin Klein and Beyoncé's Ivy Park, and appeared in The Weeknd and Sam Levinson's HBO series "The Idol", alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Jennie of Blackpink and Abel himself.
With his second album "Bloom" and the 2020 EP "In A Dream", along with a string of singles and collaborations, Sivan has cemented his reputation as an icon of pop music, fashion and LGBTQI+ representation. Dubbed by Time "the perfect pop star", he has earned numerous accolades, including a Billboard Music Award, three MTV Europe Music Awards, two ARIA Awards and two GLAAD Media Awards for "Revelation". His collaboration with Jónsi on "Boy Erased" was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and made the Oscars shortlist.
In 2023, "Rush" was the catchiest single of the summer, an irresistible slice of house propulsion built on the contrast between Troye's delicate whispers and a muscular male choir. Accompanied by a raunchy music video (naturally shot in Berlin) that generated plenty of buzz, "Rush" opens the whole of "Something To Give Each Other", on which Troye stops building artifice for its own sake, more aware than ever of his body and his means, even at the risk of coming across as overly fashion-conscious at times — starting with the breezy cover photo, steeped in a jovial homoeroticism that doesn't take itself too seriously.
