Oasis – "Columbia (Sawmills Outtake)"
The Oasis have shared a previously unreleased version of "Columbia" from the upcoming new edition of "Definitely Maybe" for its 30th anniversary. The Manchester britpop band announced last month that the special reissue of their classic 1994 debut album would be released on August 30 via Big Brother Recordings.
Available in various formats, "Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)" will feature tracks recorded and then discarded from the sessions at Monnow Valley Studios, along with outtakes from the final version of the album recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, mixed for the first time by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho. Today came the first preview from the collection, namely "Columbia (Sawmills Outtake)", mixed for the first time by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho. Listen to it below:
Joan As Police Woman – "Long For Ruin"
American musician and singer Joan As Police Woman has released the single "Long For Ruin", the first taste of her new album "Lemons, Limes & Orchids", out September 20 via Pias. Discussing the origins and influences behind the track, the artist said: "This song refers to the seemingly intentional estrangement of the human race from itself. No interest in listening or seeking common ground and compassion, communication and love. We seem intent on destroying ourselves. We seem unwilling to share resources. It feels like we've drifted away from ourselves and, in turn, from each other".
God Is An Astronaut – "Falling Leaves"
Two years on from their last record "Somnia", God Is An Astronaut will release their eleventh studio album "Embers" on September 6 via Napalm Records. The Irish post-rock band will play in Italy a few weeks before the new LP's release: the dates are August 15 at Frantic Fest in Francavilla Al Mare (Ch) and Friday the 16th at the Radio Onda d'Urto festival in Brescia. Toro Y Moi – "Tuesday"
A new album is on the way from Toro Y Moi. The American musician and producer, born Chazwick Bradley Bundlick, has announced the release of "Hole Erth", a title paying homage to the counterculture magazine "Whole Earth Catalog", active from the late 60s to the late 90s. It is set for release on September 6 via Dead Oceans.
The new work arrives two years after the previous "Mahal". The album, recorded between 2023 and 2024, features several guests, including Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service), Kevin Abstract (Brockhampton), Porches and Glaive. Below is the video for the first single "Tuesday":
Anonhi – "Breaking"
Anonhi has released a new single from the album out last summer, "My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross", blending guitar, clarinet and a voice with a jazz touch. The British-born, US-naturalized singer-songwriter has announced a North American tour, backed by a band for the first time in 14 years: "This autumn I'll be presenting a series of shows in Mexico, the United States and Canada. It's the first time I've toured since 2016 and the first time with a band in 14 years. I feel a need to sing for people, to affirm that these are unprecedented times, and to hold and express a sense of what is really happening". The new track is called "Breaking" and you can listen to it below:
