MARIO EVANGELISTA - Da capo

2026 (Self-released)
acoustic guitar, blues, folk, instrumental

Mario Evangelista already has a long musical career behind him, active as part of various bands and collectives (Pitchtorch, The Gutbuckets, Collettivo Jambona), as well as working as a producer. It sounds strange, then, to speak of a debut album, and yet "Da capo" is exactly that. At least in solo terms. A new beginning built on intimacy, on a plain-spoken songwriting that gathers up and distills everything he's lived through artistically so far.

No collaborators, not even behind the mixing desk, and no words at all. Evangelista relies solely on his acoustic guitars, adding just a few touches of harmonium and synthesizers to lend depth to an intimate dialogue shaped by graceful fingerpicking. The result is a collection of eight sonic rooms in which folk and blues merge, absorbing Mediterranean hints ("Magnolia") and psych undertones ("Pitchtorch (Reprise)") explored together with fellow travelers Danilo Gallo (Guano Padano) and Marco Biagiotti (The Vickers).

Then there's the Africa of "Diarabi" and the Ireland of "Recercare" broadening the range of influences underpinning a pensive, meditative journey, one that feels like a necessary reckoning before setting off again with renewed drive. An elegant diary that asks you to take the time it needs, away from the relentless pace of everyday life.
