IGNOBLETH - Manor Of Primitive Anticreation

2026 (Caligari)
blackened death metal, death metal, war metal

Ignobleth, a band from Modena, play a brutal and chaotic brand of death-metal, arriving at this “Manor Of Primitive Anticreation” after four years of activity and an Ep. Extreme to the point of hallucination, their sonic assault retains a terrifying ferocity and a primordial energy, as though it came from some ancestral demon of hell. More than a collection of tracks, this debut album is an anguished descent into the underworld. Enriched by dissonance, psychedelic passages and (a few) atmospheric moments, “Manor Of Primitive Anticreation” seems to return to the primitive force of certain old-school death-metal, pushing it to its most extreme consequences. The lyrics, obviously incomprehensible, are said to be based on Kabbalistic magic, Sumerian mythology, Egyptian mysteries and dark Lovecraftian fantasies. We'll take their word for it.

After a sinister liturgical introduction, “Obelisk Of Deformity” kicks off the bestial assault, amid ferocious explosions, paroxysmal accelerations and brutal slowdowns. Chaos reigns, in a sonic flow that continues into the following “Warped Abyssal Architectures”. A second, decidedly hallucinated interlude anticipates the resumption of the descent into hell, before dissonant funeral dirges introduce the two parts of “Proselyte Pig”: it's a chance for the band to arrange their dark, infernal death-metal into a more composed but no less terrifying assault. Monstrous tribal drums, accelerations scattered here and there, and raw screams worthy of someone flayed alive animate a pitch-black blend of death-metal that also turns into extremely slow, catacomb-like doom and terrifying cosmic ambient. This two-part track is the album's high point, alongside the closing, extended “Among The Seventy-Two Embalmed Ekpyrotic Gods”, which runs almost nine minutes. It's a plunge into their infernal chaos, with the vocals thrashing about in roars, the drums trying to give direction to the assault, and the guitar grinding out riffs.

On “Manor Of Primitive Anticreation” everything seems on the verge of derailing completely, such is the band's primitive energy. Thanks in part to a production that preserves the raw edge of the sound, it's an album that comes across as frightening and unstable, yet also adrenaline-fuelled. For those with somewhat macabre tastes, it's great fun. From a project that's still thoroughly underground comes one of the metal albums of the year, at least on the Italian scene.
