Un Principe può permettersi tutto. Condividere capolavori e i Italy's stages con Antonello Venditti – per la gioia di parecchi ascoltatori – e subito dopo, piazzare la collaborazione che non ti aspetti. Per “Pastiche” Francesco De Gregori sceglie direttamente il partner in crime fuori dal mondo musicale. Ecco così Checco Zalone impegnato al fianco del musicista romano nelle vesti di pianista. Non è la prima volta che De Gregori rielabora il suo repertorio: basti pensare a “Vivavoce”, “disco di cover di me stesso” (citando il diretto interessato), uscito dieci anni fa esatti. Inoltre in “Pastiche” – registrato in presa diretta, con l’aggiunta dell’orchestra e dei musicisti della band del cantautore – troviamo brani firmati dall’inedito duo e una serie di omaggi agli amici/colleghi con cui l’autore di “Bufalo Bill” ha condiviso le ultime decadi.

A inaugurare l’ascolto, l’inedito scritto insieme “Giusto o sbagliato” dove più che il pianoforte, ad accompagnare De Gregori, ci pensano i lenti e melodici accordi di chitarra (una versione solo piano e archi è posta in chiusura di scaletta). Poi tocca alle gemme di “Rimmel“: “Pezzi di vetro” e la canzone che da il titolo al capolavoro del 1975, splendida anche in questa veste. De Gregori sceglie passaggi che spaziano da “Atlantide” a “Falso movimento”, i quali, sostenuti dalla potenza testuale e dalla performance vocale, si trovano bene nell’intimo sostegno del pianoforte dal mood jazz. Tra questi, “Pittori della domenica” di Paolo Conte e “Putesse essere allero” di Pino Daniele, apprezzabile nell’arduo intento di volersi cimentare con la “lingua” napoletana.

Continua il gioco di scambi con Venditti, qui presente con “Le cose della vita”, brano omonimo di quel disco composto dal collega del Folkstudio accompagnato solo dal pianoforte. La romanità è presente ancora con la scelta di un passaggio reso immortale da Nino Manfredi (“Storia di Pinocchio”), che nella celebre trasposizione televisiva di Comencini interpretava l’indimenticato Geppetto. E che nelle vesti di cantante ha reso eterni brani della tradizione romana.

Composizioni composte dal solo Zalone – ma cantate insieme al cantautore romano – sono la movimentata “La prima repubblica” e “Alejandro”. Chiudono l’ascolto “Buonanotte Fiorellino” – all’ennesimo riarrangiamento – e “Ciao Ciao”, presente in “Scacchi e Tarocchi”, scritta pensando alla dipartita di Luigi Tenco.

Nel complesso, se l’accostamento tra i due appariva ai più come spiazzante e profano, il risultato di “Pastiche” – nome migliore non poteva esserci – è confortevole, permettendoci per l’ennesima volta, e con intatto piacere, di riascoltare alcuni tra i passaggi più significativi della musica italiana, inframezzati da innocue “intrusioni”.
