La seconda vita dei gloriosi Feelies prosegue, a distanza di qualche anno da “Here Before” (2011), con “In Between”. Formazione invariata: Glenn Mercer, Bill Million, Brenda Sauter, e Stan Demeski, con Dave Weckerman alle percussioni aggiuntive.

Il contenuto musicale è sempre più impalpabile. Canzoni come “Stay The Course”, “Time Will Tell” e “When To Go” nascono timidamente, cantate a cappella ma quasi senza voce, arrangiate col minimo dei mezzi e delle capacità, e svaniscono nella psichedelia più inerte.

Dove l’album acquista vita ed elettricità (“Been Replaced”, la Rem-iana “Gone, Gone, Gone”) cede all’irrilevanza.

Feelies

Nerves on edge

Intellectuals and primitives at once, staunch opponents of the "rock" image, the Feelies fused avant-garde and pop into a unique sound that left its mark on the entire Eighties decade. Uncompromising producers of their own work, Glenn Mercer, Bill Million & co. anticipated the world of self-released music by at least twenty years, re-emerging after a long hiatus (1991-2008) as if nothing had happened

The Feelies – \"Loveless Love\"

Like a crescendo that implodes on itself. A held-back climax. The New York band's loveless love song is a tour de force of rock that's both cerebral and heart-wrenching.
