Ecco il nuovo disco di Colin MacIntyre, la popstar più amata da chi non ama le popstar, a cinque anni dall’ultimo lavoro “City Awakenings“. “Dear Satellite”, con la produzione di Don Morley (Amy Winehouse, Sting, Adele), è forse il suo più ammiccante al pubblico mainstream, e segue la pubblicazione del primo romanzo di Colin “The Letters of Ivor Punch”, personaggio presente anche nel disco.

“The Ballad of Ivor Punch” mostra il lato più “stadium-rock” di MacIntyre, che sembra ispessire il suo timbro verso la nasalità di Tom Smith, e sembra seguirlo in una deriva pirotecnica della sua new new wave, la stessa che sembra sbirciare dall’iniziale “Build Another Brick”.

Le melodie del disco sono, come già detto, probabilmente le più sfacciate della carriera dello scozzese, eppure il suo tocco ingenuo, quasi adolescenziale (le atmosfere da boy band di “Sleepy Hollow”) è ancora il punto centrale del disco, e permette di mascherare gli anni che passano (gli Snow Patrol di “Why Do They Go So Soon”).
