This solo project by Pierre-Marc Tremblay first came up on our radar at the time of his
first EPfrom 2011, in which he moved fluidly, if perhaps still a bit impersonally, between dark moods and synthetic litanies.
In the meantime he has taken part in one of the many collaborations with Mr.Prurient
aka Vatican Shadow and a couple more tapes for his own
label. This vinyl pressed by Italy's Avant! brings back, after some time (the first release, digital-only though, dates back to 2012), a new EP with a tormented soul, in which Pierre's ghosts have let themselves be seduced by the Fernow virus, giving rise to compositions steeped in industrial tar oozing from a body in the throes of death-orgasm ("No Need To Dream"), or epic, cacophonous marches ("I Keep On Searching"), without neglecting more properly instrumental moments (the
opener "Every Dream I Have Is About You"). A harsh, ice-cold substance seems to have seeped into his skin and mind, adding an emotional force that was missing from his earliest work.
A record capable of instilling both fear and perverse fascination. Let's hope this new course isn't just a passing stylistic infatuation.
