Having left behind the other two members of Fauve Gegen A Rhino, Matteo Moca devotes himself to making “La Première Plainte”, his first project under his own name.
After wandering from techno (“La Musique N'Est Pas Rèel”) to musique concrete (“Le Cirque”), from a tribute to Tibetan mantra chanting (“Voix Du Ciel Profonde”) to ambient guitar (“Un Hommage”), Moca gathers these different dimensions into two more fully realized, slightly longer pieces, in which the first glimmers of actual composition start to emerge. “Un Rayon De Lumière Dans L'Obscurité” is at first a duet between sparse guitar tones and a low-quality sample, then a bloody duel between a cascade of sound worthy of Lou Reed's “Metal Machine Music” and a psychedelic pulse. “La Plage”, more meditative, distorts sea waves into an acoustic illusion, a symbiosis of random sounds.
The young Pistoia-based musician's debut album, played, recorded and distributed (for free via Bandcamp) entirely independently and on a shoestring budget, with cover artwork by Martina Giagnacovo, is a futuristic lo-fi record that already shows a fair share of the musician's potential.
