Florence's Vickers arrive at their second full-length after the solid 2009 debut "Keep Clear" and, more importantly, after an intense run of live shows on undeniably prestigious stages, both in Italy and abroad. The brand new "Fine For Now" shows, across its eleven sparkling tracks, songwriting that's overall more refined and stylistically evolved, keenly attuned to the latest developments of a certain "English" idea of the pop song, yet able to stamp its own personal mark (however understated) on everything. The lively, restless dynamics of tracks like "William", "Baby G" or "David Blame", juggling neo-mod flourishes, power-pop choruses and an inevitably Beatles-esque sense of melody, gracefully and lovingly retrace a palette of colors and emotions running from The Kinks to The Libertines, passing through other barely perceptible refractions along the way. Steven Orchard (Pulp, U2, Paul McCartney) and Jon Astley (The Who, Stereophonics) handled mixing and mastering.
