Registrato ai Dustward Studio di Stoccolma da Stefan Brainstrum, "Peer Amid" è il nuovo lavoro degli svedesi Skull Defekts e macina ritmi ossessivi e riff poderosi, aprendo con una lunga title-track che è puro motorik garagista e proseguendo imperterrito e, sia detto, senza molta fantasia con una più scontata "No More Always". Grottesca e metallica, "Gospel Of The Skull" sembra, invece, un incrocio tra Killing Joke e i Sonic Youth della "confusione prossima ventura", mentre del tutto innocua risulta la nenia di "The Silver River". Le quotazioni sono, in parte, risollevate dal mix di tribalismo e stratificazione cosmica di "In Majestic Drag" e da una "Fragrant Nimbus" ancora una volta teutonica. Troppo poco, comunque, soprattutto se dopo arriva un divertissement tirato per i capelli come "What Knives, What Birds" e "Join The True" chiude con una nota esplicitamente scontata.
