After an already glorious career on Italian soil (dating back to 1994, and including their gem-like records, among them the latest Ep "Fula Fula Fular", wild live sets, outstanding collaborations, remixes and compilation appearances), Milan's RUNI – Roberto Rizzo (vocals, keyboards and bass), Fabio Bielli (guitar) and Daniele Malavasi (drums) – join forces to deliver their recap album, "Rrrruuuunnnniiii".
Here the trio offers up a deranged disguise somewhere between the blatant post-hardcore of Fugazi, the spasmodic trance of Neu, and the insistent dadaist rhymes of Cccp. The nu-wave toll is paid by the vintage electronics of the frenzied keyboards, while the vocals at their best come together in a chaotic mix, well beyond intelligibility, in the manner of the Fugs' "Virgin Forest". The whole thing is cradled by a kind of demented, pyrotechnic industrial sound ("W", "Pranzo da dio", "Il ballo del quaquaraquà").
True to its title, this is yet another emphatic, and perhaps unrepeatable, statement of the aesthetic of the Resti Umani Non Identificati trio, and a non-return also on the side of the cosmic anguish that permeates the little poems, clattered out with a humour that's systematically an end in itself. Produced by Wallace with particular attention to the rhythmic cues drawn from the full range of instruments.
