"Hints": this is the declared content of "Hints", the debut work by the duo made up of Paolo Tornitore and Donato Loia – the latter from Lento. Under the name Lloyd Turner, the pair compose a handful of sinuous conversations with silence, alternating piano and acoustic or electric guitar, with rare intersections of spectral, enigmatic electronics ("Through", "A Draw", "Those Who Float"). Tracks ranging between one and two and a half minutes – aside from the closing "Unveiled" – guide the listener through a constant revelation not devoid of the coldness of a scientific search for balance, but also marked by the fascination of total absorption with the instrument, which only hints at broader vistas, drumming progressions, appearances of strings, memories and sensations. A listen that may seem excessively bare, but becomes less so the more one decides to give in to Lloyd Turner's "freeze-dried" world.
